Hot Stone Massage Therapy is Coming Soon!
Rivers RMT is excited to announce that Hot Stone Massage Therapy will be available for booking as of January 1, 2023!
Hot Stone Massage Therapy has been developed and used by a variety of cultures from around the world for more that 5,000 years. A variety of different stones can be used in treatment from marble to jade to quartz and finally most used, Basalt.
Basalt stones are a type of igneous rock which means they can contain various levels of minerals including olivine, magnesium, iron, calcium and sodium. Based on their composition, Basalt stones have a great ability to retain heat for sustained periods of time. As well, Basalt stones get their shape and smoothness via constant water movement when washed out to sea.
The benefits of Hot Stone Massage Therapy are similar traditional Swedish Massage Therapy with the addition of heat therapy integrated in. Some of these benefits include:
Reduce tension Headaches
Reduce muscle tension and pain
Reduce joint pain and stiffness
Decrease menstrual pain and cramps
Improve lymphatic circulation
Reduce overall stress
Promote grounding
Promote increased well-being
As well, Basalt stones and marble stones can be cooled and used as cold therapy and contrast therapy. Cold Therapy can help reduce inflammation and swelling which can be beneficial for particular injuries and headaches.
While Contrast Therapy is the alternation of heat and cold therapies. The benefits of Contrast Therapy can help promote healing through the increase and decrease of blood and lymphatic flow through an area, as well as can have systemic energizing effects on the nervous system, leaving you feeling refreshed and revitalized.
