Will I need to wear a mask during my appointment?

As of June 11, 2022, masks will not be mandatory and I respect your personal choice in wearing one. I appreciate your patience in the past 2 years as I understand how they can cause discomfort during treatment, especially when laying face down. You are welcome to remove your mask at any point during your appointment as well.

If you are more comfortable with mask wearing, and would feel more at ease if I am as well, I welcome you to let me know.

Will the cancellation policy be in effect during COVID-19?

The cancellation policy will be upheld and fees will be applied if client fails to provide 24-hour notice of cancellation, misses their appointment without notice entirely. If client needs to cancel their treatment within 24-hours of the scheduled appointment time due to symptoms of COVID-19 or other health related symptoms and attempts at adequate notice was given by the client, cancellation policy and fees will be at the Practitioner’s discretion.

Do I have to complete COVID-19 Screening for treatment?

No, COVID-19 Screening forms are no longer mandatory. I ask that you continue to self-screen for any infectious illness in the days leading up to your appointment. If you need to cancel, please refer to the Cancellation Policy.

Do I need to fill out an intake form?

Yes, Massage Therapists are legally required to collect your health history under the Registered Healthcare Practitioners Act (RHPA). The reason for this collection is to ensure your RMT can provide safe and effective treatments. Certain conditions are either a risk or contraindication for Massage Therapy, therefore full disclosure of your health status is very important. All information collected will be kept confidential.

Can I claim your services with my insurance company?

Yes. Massage Therapy services provided by an RMT are eligible for reimbursement from insurance companies. Please check your specific policy as it will outline what your plan will accept as claims including covered services, co-pay, available financial limits and any other requirements.

Do you offer direct billing to my insurance company?

No, at this time I do not offer direct billing to insurance companies. Since majority of policies will only reimburse claims directly to the policy holder, therefore fees for services will be due at time of the appointment. I do accept all major credit cards for payment, as well as e-transfers. Proof of payment can be provided as well as an insurance receipt for qualified services.

What does RMT mean?

RMT stands for Registered Massage Therapy (Therapist). It, along with Massage Therapist (MT) is a protected term by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), the governing body of all RMT’s in Ontario. By protecting this term it can only be used by those who are qualified, ensuring the public can rely on this to ensure they receive safe and effective treatment.

Do I need a doctor’s referral for Massage Therapy?

Rivers RMT does not require doctor’s referrals/notes to provide services. All health benefit policies are customize from company to company, and policy to policy. Please check your policy to see it requires you to get a doctor’s referral for Massage Therapy for insurance purposes. If so, you will need to keep the referral for your records and claim.

Do I have to completely undress for my treatment?

You do not need to completely undress for your treatment, Rivers RMT stands behind our statement of undress to your level of comfort. Some Massage Therapy techniques can be most effective with skin to skin contact, however different treatments plans may require a different technique. You are your therapist will discuss this at each appointment, and it is your right to decide what level of undress you are comfortable with.
