Will I need to wear a mask during my appointment?

Yes. Under the direction of the College of Massage Therapists (CMTO), Public Health Ontario (PHO) and Ministry of Health Canada (MOH) anyone who wishes to receive treatment will need to wear a mask through their entire time in our clinic for their appointment. Since massage treatment is unable to abide by physical distancing (2 metres), this is a requirement. It is encouraged that you show up to your appointment wearing at minimum a procedure/surgical mask or CLEAN cotton reusable mask. If you do not have access to a mask, they can be provided (depending on supply) for a fee of $3.

Do I have to complete COVID-19 Screening for treatment?

Yes. Under the direction of the College of Massage Therapists (CMTO), Public Health Ontario (PHO) and Ministry of Health Canada (MOH) anyone who wishes to receive treatment will need to sign the COVID-19 Screening Agreement prior to their day of appointment. Then at time of appointment, clients will be required to pass a verbal screening provided by therapist before proceeding with the appointment. If COVID-19 screening was unsuccessful the appointment will not proceed and be directed to self isolate for 14 days, perform an online self assessment before contacting their Physician or Public Health.

Will the cancellation policy be in effect during COVID-19?

The cancellation policy will be upheld and fees will be applied if client fails to provide 24-hour notice of cancellation, misses their appointment without notice entirely or fails to complete the COVID-19 Screening Agreement prior to their appointment (sent via email at minimum 24 hours prior to appointment). If client needs to cancel their treatment within 24-hours of the scheduled appointment time due to symptoms of COVID-19 or other health related symptoms and attempts at adequate notice was given by the client, cancellation policy and fees could be waived at the Practitioner’s discretion.

Will you be keeping a log for Contact Tracing purposes?

Yes. Under the direction of the College of Massage Therapists (CMTO), Public Health Ontario (PHO) and Ministry of Health Canada (MOH) anyone who enters our clinic space to receive treatment or not will have their name and phone number recorded for purposes of contact tracing in the event that the clinic has been notified of possible contamination. This information will be kept with other required logs for a period of 10 years (same as all other documentation).

What does RMT mean?

RMT stands for Registered Massage Therapy (Therapist). It, along with Massage Therapist (MT) is a protected term by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), the governing body of all RMT’s in Ontario. By protecting this term it can only be used by those who are qualified, ensuring the public can rely on this to ensure they receive safe and effective treatment.

Can I claim your services with my insurance company?

Massage Therapy services provided by an RMT are eligible for reimbursement from insurance companies. Please check your specific policy as it will outline what your plan will accept as claims including covered services, co-pay, available financial limits and any other requirements.

Do I need a doctor’s referral for Massage Therapy?

Rivers RMT does not require doctor’s referrals/notes to provide services. All health benefit policies are customize from company to company, and policy to policy. Please check your policy to see it requires you to get a doctor’s referral for Massage Therapy for insurance purposes. If so, you will need to keep the referral for your records and claim.

Do I have to completely undress for my treatment?

You do not need to completely undress for your treatment, Rivers RMT stands behind our statement of undress to your level of comfort. Massage Therapy techniques can be most effective with skin to skin contact, however different treatments plans may require a different technique. You are your therapist will discuss this at each appointment, and it is your right to decide what level of undress you are comfortable with.

Do I need to fill out an intake form?

Yes, massage therapists are legally required to collect your health history under the Registered Healthcare Practitioners Act (RHPA). The reason for this collection is to ensure your RMT can provide safe and effective treatments. Certain conditions are either a risk or contraindication for Massage Therapy, therefore full disclosure of your health status is very important. All information collected will be kept confidential.

Do you offer direct billing to my insurance company?

No, at this time we do not offer direct billing to insurance companies. Since majority of policies will only reimburse claims directly to the policy holder, fees for services will be due at time of the appointment.

Do you take credit cards?

Yes! We accept Visa, MasterCard & American Express and Debit (Tap Only).
